The Isham Hutson homestead/grave site is located in a circular patch of trees in a field on Snider's Highway (route 63) between Interstate 95 and the Lowcountry Highway (route 21). The address of the property where the graveyard is located is 5672 Sniders Highway. The two pictures below from Google Earth show the location of the homestead and gravesite from the air. The homestead is located on someone's property. My father and I met the property owner in late 2003 and she was cordial but strangely-enough didn't seem willing or able to offer any information about the gravesite. If you have information about the Isham Hutson homesite, or if you are interested in helping to preserve/mark it, please call Ron Hudson directly at (714) 960-4117 or leave a message. The names in bold below are believed to be buried at the gravesite along with at least two others whose graves are marked with headstones. My father and I believe that we are the only living men named Hudson who are descendants of Isham Hutson, but obviously we would love to find others :

DNA testing proves that Isham is the brother of John Hutson (1813-1898). The father is unknown, but the best-known theory based on land and census records suggests Willis(Welles) or William Hutson, b. 1767. | |

Click here to view the 1850 Census (items 612-614) showing the four Hutson men living on Isham's land. Note the land values where Isham holds 50% of the land, and has given the other 50% to his two oldest sons Adam and Christopher. Note that his youngest son Hamilton is still living with the family at age 15, not old enough to be on his own yet. In the 1860 census, Isham is a neighbor of Hamilton, but Adam does not appear to still live in the immediate area (although his son Jospeph P. Hudson is buried there). I cannot find Christopher or his son James B Hutson in the 1860 census or even later. Could there have been some tragedy that took the lives of Christopher and/or James, or is it more-likely that they simply didn't get included in the 1860 census, and then got killed in the civil war before the 1870 census? More research needed on this....
